For some reason I cannot access my yahoo email account. Yahoo cant find the email server?

Everyone has the same problem. It's down for the moment. It should be back up soon. Meanwhile, relax and read a book.

that is the case if you are in an institution for internet facility like educational institutes

You'll need to contact your Internet provider. Call their tech support line. In order to setup Outlook Express, you'll need to ask them for:

1. Your username (usually your email addy)

2. Your password

3. Your outgoing mail server

4. Your incoming mail server

5. Whether the server requires authentication

Once you have that, it's a matter of filling in the blanks!

The recent changes Yahoo has made has temporarily made ypops unable to download your mail. However they are working on a new version the will allow you to once again download your email with out subscribing to Plus!

As of 4/10/08 they have a rough version available for testing. But it is not done or fully stable, I would wait.

I have gotten NO explanation, just the "we're aware %26amp; working on it" reply.

Yesterday, Yahoo sent me an email that the problem was fixed, but it is NOT! This only affects Yahoo emails sent by Outlook or a similar email client, which involves Yahoo's smtp server. If you send an email directly from Yahoo's website, it DOES go out immediately.

Several emails I sent via Outlook hours ago STILL have not gone out. I send myself bcc's, so that I am aware when the emails are actually sent out. Most of them are delayed at least 6 hours, but the time delay is not entirely consistent.

What IS consistent, is that Yahoo has had this problem OVER A WEEK! and has not made any public admission of the problem, even tho many of us actually pay for Yahoo's Mail Plus.

At my work, during our lunch we are allowed to use and surf the internet however the person who manages the server does more nosing around than managing it. Can that person say get my password to my yahoo email or other webpages off the server? It really isn't all that I don't think. Yes he can snoop through the packets you send. My suggestion is that if your information to be secure make sure the website has https: in the address bar. This encrypts the data so he wont be able to read it! Yahoo does this on the login screen for example.
Reply:Your Yahoo password is not stored on a server, unless you have Roboform or something else, and then it's only stored on your hard drive if you have individual desktop units. If you have a mainframe computer, then you might have a problem.

However, I think it there is only a very slim chance that the nosy person can get your bank information, as that also has to be put in each time you log in, like your Yahoo ID and password. She would have to be VERY competent to search the packets as they go through the server, and be an accomplished hacker at that. You said that isn't likely, so I think you are safe. However, this situation certainly bears watching to see what this person does besides snooping!

That will require administrative rights to install a cleaner such as CCleaner. Unfortunately they already know where you've been if your system administrator is worth a salt, so it's really a waste of time.
Reply:in the top of your screen there should be a small search box if google is your home page it will be in the top left corner. then there should be a small down arrow it will say something about history. you want to click clear history. this will delete past sites on your computer that you have visited. to delete your emails go to inbox and check all of your emails there will be one box at the top where you can check all of them at once. then press delete. same goes for sent and drafts.

i work for a small business (15+people). my boss has recently purchased two blacbkerry's and while he had one before, i think there will be more added before too long. we currently do not have an exchange server or anything like it, although i have everyone setup through outlook 2003. spam is a HUGE issue in our office and also i think it woudl be great if we could share calendars and view our actual outlook / calendars from outside the office. problem is, i just don't know where to start. i am NOT an IT person by trade but i do handle it for my office. i'm just trying to figure out if exchange is the way to go (or something similar) or is there another solution made for smaller businesses. p.s. setting up a blackberry without exchange is no easy task. i know that exchange would at least make that part easier)

i'm also just looking for a simplified explanation of what exchange does - benefits, tools, etc., drawbacks - can anyone help please???

You should be able to find a "Help" file at email.com which will give you the settings.

I say "should" because I couldn't find one there. I couldn't even find a way to set up an email account with a (name)@email.com email addr. All it appears to be to me is listings of where email accounts can be set up anywhere _but_ email.com.

Is there a problem with the Yahoo Beta email server? I have been getting error messages when logging on.?

Since last Saturday whenever I have tried to access my email I get either a %26lt;URL not recognised%26gt; or %26lt;we have detected a problem with your browser%26gt; error message. Most everyone on Yahoo Mail Beta is having similar problems. I am too during the day! I have cleared the cache and history, booted into SafeMode with networking, cleared all temp files and still cannot fix the problem.

This is a definite Yahoo issue and they are not providing any info as to why so many are having the problem.

I suggest switching back to the original version. You cannot change back to the original w/o accessing beta first. It works at night. Log in then to use the Switch Back link everyone answers about.

There is a site you can access to check your Beta mail if you keep getting Page Not Displayed or a blank screen. It is crued and text only, but you at least you can check your mail. Here is the link: http://wap.oa.yahoo.com

Reply:I was using the beta email untill 2 days ago.. got hacked off with delays, dropouts, javascript crashing my browser, forcing a reboot.

I also got annoyed when the system displays all the adverts but doesn't handle the mail. yes the adverts pay for the service, or delays int he ad severs causing a time out error

You have to enter the full server address. If you are using Yahoo Mail then the server data is plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com and plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com. Also set your ports correctly or you will get errors. the correct port for pop is 995 with SSL enabled. The SMTP port is 465 ssl enabled. If that does not work use port 25 ssl not enabled. Also make sure your outgoing server is set to use authentication.

First you can send yourself a test email and see it you get in one of your boxes,maybe in Bulk and second if your email was not received it would be returned as undeliveralbe Mailer Daemon. Have you had any of this? Also check your Sent box for your outgoing.

Taking this literally (because I don't tip them!), I first check the 2Wire and LynkSys.

Sometimes I call my server. Last time it was two hours--their nickel. The person asked at first if there was construction going on nearby. I said yes, across the street. *Two hours* later she said, "Oh, the service seems to be out in your area!" Like duhhhhh!

Another time I called Comcast--again two hours. I was under the desk checking the wires, as they had said, when DH came home and said, "Ummm, honey? We don't *have* Comcast!"

You usually assign an email server a static IP address. When you order a commercial type connection they give you an allocation range of static IP addresses. Then you can have the select few log into the smtp server at the IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with their user name and password.

If you run an email server from home and your ISP finds out you may loose your account permanently.

I was having the same problem today. I am using Firefox 2.0 and was not able to log into Yahoo! Mail Beta. I was just getting a bad connection page.

I even tried using different computers.

Finally I tried logging into Yahoo! Mail and got the error page. I simply typed in that same window's address bar yahoomail.com. Since I was already logged into Yahoo! it took me to the "Oops!" page saying that my computer was not able to handle Yahoo! Mail Beta and gave me the option to use standard Yahoo! Mail.

Keep trying this until you are able to get into Yahoo! Mail. I think the problem is with Beta and not Yahoo! Mail itself. If you have the Opera Web Browser you should try and use it since it is not compatible with Beta and you should automatically be pushed to the "Oops!" page.

I was also able to access my email from my phone's web browser and Yahoo! Go.

It really depends upon how big your user base is and how complex you want to get in terms of features. If it's reasonably small (less than 50 - 100 users) then pretty much any distro should be fine. The features you need will depend more upon the mail package than the server OS. I use postfix on Ubuntu and have no complaints, but I'm pretty basic. If you have a large user base then you might want to look into something like Red Hat Enterprise, especially given the support they can offer.

On the Outlook front, it can connect to any POP or IMAP server. The biggest issue will be calendar integration. To the best of my knowledge that only works with an MS Exchange server. However, there may be commercial third party apps that offer that functionality. Evolution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novell_Evol... ), for example, might be a possible solution.

Select the link at top right to go to Yahoo!'s Home Page.

Mouse over the Mail Icon under where it says (Hi, your Yahoo! id).

You should get a drop down menu with your latest emails displayed.

Select an email and click it. You then get to a new page about Shortcuts, but just select the button for Mail and it should take you to your Mail page.

It wasn't getting redirected to the shortcuts page on some servers and not going to the mail page.

One possibility: You may possibly have a corrupt cache file -- it makes all KINDS of things go wonky. Try this: clear your history, temporary files %26amp; cookies, reboot and retry. I鈥檝e had people tell me this worked, recently, others say it did not, so I guess is varies.

Another possibility is that you are suffering, along with MANY others, from the current update being done to the site, which is causing many server problems. If the above fix does not work, you may need to be patient until they get all the servers updated and running correctly again. Good luck!

unless your company allows using VPN or exchange webmail then you can't, contact your system administators, chances are you work network is not open for this

You just need to find out the POP3 mail server inbound and outbound server addresses. For example, if you had Comcast High Speed Internet and are using their email, then the POP3 server address (as I remember, I think) would be:

for both in and out servers.

In Outlook, click TOOLS %26gt; EMAIL ACCOUNTS. Then click the radio button next to ADD A NEW EMAIL ACCOUNT. Then click NEXT.

In the next window, click POP3 and click NEXT.

Then type in your name (whatever you want people to see), and your email address. Also put in your user name and password that you have with your email account.

Under 'Server Information', there is the POP3 incoming mail server, and the Outgoing SMTP mail server. Boxes are empty. You will need to put in the addresses for the servers that your ISP has given you. The incoming and the outgoing mail server address may, or may not be the same. An example of a POP3 address might be: mail.comcast.net or mail.YourISP.com or pop3.YourISP.com or smtp.YourISP.com (where YourISP is the actual name of your Internet Service Provider).

Click TEST ACCOUNT SETTINGS, if available on your version of Outlook. Click NEXT and finish up.

Well, I have never used Gmail until today. I have used Hotmail for over a decade. I've used Yahoo! for about a half decade.

Hotmail at one time offered free POP3 mail access. But then a few years ago they revolked that privelege. From what I know, Hotmail has not offered free POP3 maill access for quite some time.

After all, having web-only access does allow for the costs associated with your mail account by using banner advertising and click-throughs.

I would like to point out that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) usually comes with at least one free email address, usually 5 or maybe more. The only time it does not come with your ISP is if you are on a special budget type of plan. So realize that the ability to get POP3 email from your ISP is not free, since your are paying for internet access.

From what I understand, some Hotmail accounts were grandfathered-in so that they still have POP3 mail access without charge.

Configuring Outlook Express, or many other mail programs, can be done by following the directions from the link that will be displayed inside the POP3 settings window.

So now that I have a Gmail account that allows free access to POP3, I am going to set up my Yahoo! and Hotmail accounts to automatically forward all messeges that are not spam to my Gmail account. I will have Outlook running in the background on my computer which constantly checks for new email. This way I can get all of my email from all of my accounts automatically and easily with easy notification of new emails from your Start bar.

in either case you will need to have things set up on both computers to make this work

If you cancel verizon, your verizon email will be deleted also, you can ask that they keep it active, not sure if it will work though....
