I can open my email, but am unable to search my mail - especially I just received an email which vanished after the message came up shoeing it coming in.

Go through your mail. It may be tucked in somewhere. It happens this way sometime. I once went mad trying to locate a mail. Found it in the 3rd page!
That mail may be dated a couple of days ago.
